Collective Haul Intro

 -|:Youtube :|: Facebook :|: Twitter :|: PrettyDNA :|: Vlog :|: FourSquare :|-

Hi everyone,

I feel like I've been good with the 'no makeup shopping' ban for a while, so as a reward to myself, I hauled a bit /insert guilty face here/. Today's post is going to be more of an "introductory" post and I'll try to break down the products and go into detailed reviews after I've tried them a bit

Some are from sasa.com and some are from Sephora.

Let's start with the Nars foundation.
I'm usually more of a foundation person (not so much a BB cream person), and since the weather in LA is heating up really quickly, I decided to go for more wearable and sheer/light foundations. I love my Bobbi Brown skin foundation, but couldn't resist buying another light weight foundation.

It's the Nars Sheer Glow foundation, and I'm in shade Light 2, Mont Blanc.
I compared it with light 1 and light 3, and light 1 is too light for my skin tone and light 3 is too pink for me. Light 2 has more yellow undertone to it, and I think for my fare Asian skin it's a perfect match. I usually fit the second lightest shade of most foundations (MAC NC20, bobbi brown 2 sand, Revlon colorstay 150 buff, etc..).
I have it on right now and it's extremely light weight and sheer. The coverage isn't comparable to other heavy duty foundations, but it's perfect for light, everyday makeup.

Next, Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blushes.

I've been dying to get my hands on these blushes! They are actually my first Tarte products, and so far, I only have good things to say about this brand. I love that they are a cruelty free company and for some reason I'm already fond of the products they put out.
I know doll face is the famous one, but I wasn't impressed with the powdery formula. I got Tipsy (a bright, almost neon, coral - with a hint of pink in it), which seems to be in the permanent line and Adored, which was in a separate collection. Adored is a vivid pink blush with tons of silvery shimmers in it. Even one swatch shows how this blush makes your skin glow with the subtle shimmers.

Next, I have two Japanese brand eyebrow products.

Kiss Me (the brand famous for their heroine mascaras), heavy rotation eyebrow coloring formula in its lightest color - Light Ash. It's actually a eyebrow color for people with bleached hair, but I decided to give it a go since there are some makeup looks I would like to create with lighter brows. It's such a convenient concept since you don't have to bleach out your eyebrows to match whatever hair color you have. Purchased from sasa.com

Next is from Kose, cosmagic: Visual Up Brow.
It's a coppery shimmer formula, and does the same trick as the Kiss Me Heavy Rotation. It's a tad bit darker than Kiss Me, so it's more for girls with chocolate brown hair or medium light brown hair. Also useful when you want to change up your brow color without having to use drastic measures. This was purchased from sasa.com

I also bought some sunscreen. Inevitably, I'm out in the sun a lot more than I want nowadays and I'm rapidly depleting my CNP sunscreen. I wanted a powerful and effective sunscreen, and out of the ones in the market, Anessa is notorious(?) for doing the best job.

Seems promising, so I will try to do a review after I use up CNP sunscreen and start using this. I'm also interested in the foundation, but I'll decide on the purchase after I have a good experience with this sunscreen.

Next is a face illuminator from Milani.
I believe this is from their spring 2012 collection.

The targets I go to are extremely slow to put in new stock, so I'm a bit late on Milani's spring collection. I grabbed 01 Amber Nectar. I actually wanted 03 Beauty's Touch, but there were none in stock. Swatches and review will be up very soon! :)

Last but not least is Lower Lashes from Eyelash Extension.

They are a bit longer and sparser than what I wanted them to be. I'm not going to open it until I need it for a tutorial. I'm always on the look out for good lower lashes, so we'll see how I like it. :)

That was about it with my recent hauls.
I'm excited to try them out and share them in my upcoming videos.
Swatches reviews will be up individually once I use the products and have a concrete opinion about how the product works.

  1. Hey Catalina! I've been interested in that NARS sheer glow foundation for a while now, but can't seem to dish out the $$ for it. *A* Please do a review on it! :) Thanks~

  3. first off, the boyfriend tag vid was so cute!
i've seen the anessa sunscreen many times but didn't want to spent the money on it because i wasn't sure if it's going to be as good as the sofina perfect uv one. so could you do a review on it?
also, seeing that you're getting a sheer/light foundation how's your skin doing? i've been suffering with cystic acne on my cheeks down to my neck and finding the right skincare products and foundations has been a pain. i've used the persa gel and it tamed down the crazy breakouts but i was looking for something better. i've heard/seen/read mixed reviews on proactiv for many years now and recently the acne.org regimen had sparked some interest. so i was wondering have you've tried proactiv and the acne.org stuffs?
oh, and i don't mean to make this comment any longer or dreadful to read. : ) but regarding the lower lashes, you should try short individual lashes for the bottom lash. it's a little time consuming but i find it looks quite nice. maybe add a few onto the sparse false lower lashes that you've just bought to make them fuller for a nice dramatic look?
