I have to admit. I'm not a huge hand person.
I've never really cared about how my hand looked until recently. I've noticed that my hands don't look as fresh and tight as they used to. Especially when photographed closely, they seem to look like a set of old lady's hands.
Well, with my situation of living out of nowhere at the moment (sephora or any beauty store is so far away), I didn't bother to go out and look for any solutions regarding my dry hands.
Not until I got to Chicago a week ago.
I wasn't prepared for the extremely cold weather and went there underdressed. I walked around for a day without gloves and since I tend to take a lot of pictures, my hands were constantly exposed to the dry and cold weather.
Here's a look at my hand during the second day in Chicago.
So dry, it went to a point where I felt like my skin was cracking painfully.
I had a chance to go to Macy's, and luckily LUSH
was there. Although I've heard so many people rave about LUSH, I was never drawn to the brand for some reason. I asked for the thicker hand lotion and was given 'helping hands
'. The SA applied some on my hand and massaged it through. I wasn't really impressed with the cream at first. It felt a bit too watery compared to my L'occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (which I have sitting around in LA)
. But I was feeling ready for a change so I purchased it nonetheless and used it throughout my trip and have come to love it.
The lotion is in a typical LUSH packing and has a lavender colored cream in it. I'm not a huge fan of the scent, but it's not all that strong, so it shouldn't bother those that don't like it.
The Pros: Does the job.
It's all about protecting the hands from drying out, and I think this product does the job pretty well. Also, the hand stays moisturized for a very long time. So in theory, if you were to be outdoors like me for the entire day, you would only need to reapply once or twice. That's pretty impressive! :)
The Cons: Takes a while for your hands to absorb.
When you apply it, it has that initial stage where your hands are greasy and everything you touch has that grease smear.
That was the only annoying thing for me because the grease would get on my camera grip and LCD screen while I was using my camera.

Do you guys have a HG hand lotion?
I feel the same about LUSH. I never take baths either, so everything just comes off really overpriced despite the handcrafted aspect of the products. I have, however, been interested in their skincare products. I feel like I'd waste money though, not use something until it was gone since their expiration dates come up faster than most products.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a HG hand lotion, I just use whatever I have, but maybe I'll try this one! I hate that greasy feeling though.. I always put lotion on the back of my hands and rub lol..

omg chicago is so frigid cold!!!! wen i went there i swore the circulation to my legs were getting cut off >_< and i went inside a bathroom to warm up my legs as i was afraid they were going to fall off xD i want to try Cake beauty Milk hand lotion next. i heard good things but its only sold online @ sephora :/
ReplyDeleteNeutrogena Norwegian Hand Cream (http://www.drugstore.com/neutrogena-norwegian-formula-hand-cream-fragrance-free/qxp17010) is the best! And it's cheap and available everywhere :). The texture is a bit thick and it doesn't feel luxurious, but it is very moisturizing and soothing.
ReplyDeletehey! i actually have the problem of super dry hands ever since i took accutane. i use aveeno's daily moisturizing lotion everyday for my hands and sleep with that + moisturizing gloves on at night (sometimes) to help keep them from cracking/bleeding. hope your hands don't get too abused by the weather! xo
ReplyDeleteWhenever my hands get really dry, I put on some Vaseline. I hate the greasiness of it but it does the job, so can't complain much! xx
ReplyDeleteoh dear, you might want to try doing one of those hand treatments where you basically soak your hand in your favourite moisturiser and then wrap them up in a plastic bag/ glove so your hands gets time to absorb and condition itself. This might help with your condition if you do it a few times!

Smells good too, plus, it lasts (the moisture) for a very long time.
i have dry hands too, ALL YEAR ROUND. and Aveeno's intense relief cream is always my hands' life saver. the cream doesn't go away even after you washed your hands. also, i have really sensitive skin, it's fragrance free, moisturizes throughout the night and it's creamy yet it absorbs really fast. i love this cream :) and it's cheap! you can get it in wal-mart!

Hi, I wanted to share a tip to get rid of dry hands. Very simple and effective ~ all you need is baby oil and some sugar (brown or white your choice) :). Just pour some baby oil on ur hands and put some sugar and massage it well for 2 - 3 mins followed with washing your hands with warm luke water. Try it for week and share the results back. Also you can try this at night before hitting the bed and in morning you'll have the most beautiful soft hands. Thanks..AJ
