Let's start with Lipsticks - Chanel Rouge COCO 05 Mademoiselle & Urban Decay SELLOUT

Out of all makeup products, I think lipstick and blushes make the most drastic changes in one's look.  I especially LOVE lipsticks because I can change around the colors everyday and pretty much get away with any color at work. It's odd, because I work at a pretty conservative and uptight old boys-type of company and contrary to the uptightness, the majority of the people aren't concerned about my choice of makeup.  I can literally go to work with clown makeup and get away with it. So, during the past months I've been compiling even more lipsticks on top of the already too-many lipsticks I've collected through out the years.

Today I wanted to share two lipsticks that I've been reaching for a lot lately.  Both have very similar shades and complement my skin tone, without bringing out too much red from my scars and weird redness on my skin. The only thing is, Urban Decay's Sellout is a pretty old lipstick, so I'm not sure how available it is nowadays.

Left to Right : Chanel Rouge Coco 05 Mademoiselle, Urban Decay Sellout

First is the Chanel Rouge Coco in #05 Mademoiselle
It was one of the flagship colors of the rouge coco lipsticks.  I still remember when the above campaign first came out and how much I loved the lipstick color on Vanessa Paradis. The natural pink color has a bit of brownish undertone to it, which mutes the color down to a very natural looking shade.

The tube itself looks bland, but don't be fooled. It's extremely pigmented and hydrating to the lips. The lipstick lasts incredibly long without bleeding or partial fading, which makes the high price tag somewhat tolerable. I only reapply after lunch and once in the afternoon at work - one swipe goes a long way.

As you can see, there's no shimmer or glitter in the lipstick. It's really straight up opaque with no other gimmick added to the color.

Bleh.. sorry about the tired look, but this is how the lipstick looks on my face. Nice and natural. Gives your lips some color, but nothing dramatic.

Here's a comparison swatch. On tube, the Chanel looks way lighter, but when swatched you can see that Mademoiselle is much more pigmented than Sellout.

Urban Decay's SELLOUT is a discontinued lipstick I snagged from their site when UD was dumping their lipsticks for $3 each.
I think the formula was an utter failure. The stick melts and breaks even in cold temperature. The lipstick itself on lips last a couple hours, but the form just doesn't hold well in the tube.

Other than that, the packaging is super cute and the color isn't as intense as it looks like on tube.

Here are the swatches on my lips.

Really nice color.  It has a slight hint of brown underlying the coral shade, which defines my lips and brightens up my complexion. Even if I pack on several layers, it doesn't look unnatural or gross on me.

That's me with Sellout on, with bright lighting directly on my face. The contrast is stark compared to how it looks like in real life, but this should give you an idea of how the shade looks on my face.

Even if the lipstick was still available for purchase I'm not sure if I'd want to go through the ordeal of having to push the wonky lipstick in the tube while trying to press it on my lips.  I haven't bought any lip products from UD after this one, so I'm not sure how their formula is now, but I'm sure they have improved with the hardening issue.

In many ways, I think these two lipsticks are winners for everyday usage.

Yay for lipstick!

    1. It's a very natural color! I tend to shy away from pinks too (especially warm pinks.. they make me look yellow and weird..), but Chanels never fail! They have this special tone to them that makes it universally pretty on anyone
